Per her sister Eileen, Mary was born at 208 South Broadway, Georgetown KY, the John Branham house, still standing as the oldest house in Georgetown, and entered into the National Register of Historic Places.

Mary KEARNEY Obituary

KEARNEY Mary Theresa, 85, passed away peacefully on Jan 3, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was born on Nov 11, 1924 in Georgetown, KY to the late Michael William and Margaret Rose O'Neil Kearney. She is survived by her sisters Eileen Kearney True and Margaret (Peggy) Kearney Kroboth, her sister-in-law Helen Kearney, all of Lexington. She was preceded in death by her brother Michael William Kearney.

She will be dearly missed by the families of her 12 nieces and nephews whom she referred to as "her children": Mike Kearney (Cathy); Nick Kearney (Peggy); Kaye Kroboth Flamm (Kevin); Theresa Kroboth Renaud (Jack); Diane Marie Kearney; Anne Kroboth Frazier (Mike); Geno Kearney (Theda); Barbara Kroboth Burch (Stewart); Maggie Kroboth Green (Warren); Mary Kroboth Anderson (Bob); Frances Kroboth Banks (Bill); Carl Paul Kroboth III (Dawn) and 18 great-nieces and nephews.

Mary graduated from the Nazareth School of Nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital in 1946 and then received her Bachelor of Nursing degree with the first graduating class from the University of Kentucky School of Nursing in 1964. For many years Mary worked at St. Joseph Hospital in the Pediatrics unit. She finished her career as a nursing instructor in the LPN program at Central Kentucky Vocational Technical School retiring from there in 1987. She served on the Kentucky Board of Nursing for many years.

Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Tue, Jan 5th at Milward Funeral Home, 159 North Broadway, Lexington, KY. A funeral mass will be held at 11am, Wed, Jan 6th at St. Paul's Catholic Church. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care provided to Mary by the staff of Seniors Advantage, especially Jewel, Catherine, Sarah Clay, and Omotola.
