Walter Ross Bogan Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 15, 2023. Walter was married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara "Bobbie" Ann Facundus Bogan, for 66 years. He was the father of four, grandfather to seven and great-grandfather to eight. Born on December 15, 1934 in Baton Rouge, La. He was a graduate of Central High School in 1953, where he starred as a 4-sport letterman and was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame. Walter went on to graduate from LSU and then he proudly served as a navigator in the United States Air Force. After completing his service, he enjoyed a very successful CPA career where he rose to the position of National Director of Auditing Services for Price Waterhouse while fulfilling other responsibilities as a member on the AICPA's Auditing Standards Board. Walter grew up in Central and has lived in Greenwell Springs, LA for the last 29 years. Walter loved his Arabian horses, which he bred and showed successfully for many years. Regional and National winners were produced as a result of his efforts. He enjoyed weekly golf matches with Barbara and sometimes their sons. Walter and his family are strong advocates of LSU sports, being an LSU alumnus himself and football season ticket holder for many years. Walter is survived by his son Walter Ross Bogan, Jr. (Dawn), daughter Carol Ann Bogan Crain (Kevin), son Scott Alan Bogan, daughter-in-law Jan Bogan, sister Betty Bogan Jines (Floyd), seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom he loved all deeply and dearly. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Facundus Bogan, son Daniel Charles Bogan, parents Walter Charles and Florrie Ross Bogan. Special thanks to his loving friend and caretaker Tracy Whitaker, the Audubon Hospice team, and the entire staff at The Claiborne at Shoe Creek. Visitation will take place at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The visitation will continue Friday, September 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home (11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA) until the service at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral procession to Roselawn Memorial Park & Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to charities and organizations of your individual choice.
