Ruth Franklin, mother of two, and "Nana" to many, joined her heavenly family on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Ruth "Ruthie" Mina Schulte was born September 13, 1943 in Medina County, Texas, the seventh child and third daughter of Alfred H. and Louisa Hartman Schulte. She attended school in Hondo, graduating from Hondo High School in 1962. She graduated from Johnson's Beauty College in 1964 and worked as a stylist in Hondo beauty shops in that capacity for some time. Afterwards, she was the librarian at Ted Flores Elementary School in Pearsall for many years.

On February 12, 1965, Ruthie married Stanley Austin Franklin, a native of Dawson County, Texas. In 1972, they adopted their first child, Jason. Their daughter, Melissa, was born in 1975.

Ruthie was fond of gambling trips to Vegas and Eagle Pass; of playing bingo and visiting arts and craft shows. She loved gardening and scrapbooking. Holidays were her favorite times of the year, and the chicken salad sandwiches she made for the family Christmas Eve gatherings will long be remembered. She especially enjoyed attending granddaughter Addie's volleyball games and was an indulgent grandmother to all her grandchildren. Her merry heart and mischievous smile endeared her to everyone who knew her.

Ruthie is survived by Stanley, her husband of 58 years; by her son Jason and daughter Melissa; her grandchildren Danielle, Cody, Colton, Addison (Addie), and Dauniea; by her sister Myrtle Schneider, her brother Charles "Sonny" Schulte and wife Annette, and by her brother Thomas Schulte, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and admirers.

She unites in heaven with her parents; her brothers Alfred, Leroy, and David; her sisters Mary "Mitzi" and Carolyn. Her entry among the heavenly hosts will surely delight them as much as she delighted those who will sorely miss her here.
