Richard P. Battisti, 73, a longtime St. Johnsville resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY with his devoted family by his side. Richard has been waiting to be with the love of his life since the day she left this earth. They are now reunited once again.
He was born on December 18, 1949, in Little Falls, the son of the late Albert and Alberta (Cook) Battisti. Richard was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and later in life earned an associate degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College.
On July 13, 1968, Richard was united in marriage to Suzanne Reese at the former St. Patrick's Church in St. Johnsville. The couple shared a blessed union of 48 years until the passing of Suzanne on November 23, 2016.
Richard was last employed as a truck driver for B&R Trucking in Utica, NY.
Survivors include his daughters, Julie Taylor and husband Jack and Holly Brundage and husband Jeremy both of St. Johnsville; his sons, Darin Battisti and wife Keara and Jason Battisti and wife Michelle both of St. Johnsville; eight grandchildren, Meghan Clarke, Em Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Jacob Battisti, Jeb Brundage, Reese Battisti, Josie Brundage and Quinn Battisti; a sister, Susanne Sammons and husband Charles of St. Johnsville; three brothers, Albert (Butchie) Battisti of St. Johnsville, Larry Battisti and partner John Parrott of Apopka, Florida and Stephen Battisti of St. Johnsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Richard's grandson, Em Taylor who took such good care of him through the years. There wasn't a thing Pop couldn't call him for and he would be there. They had a special bond that could never be broken. As Em says, he was his "ride or die".
In keeping with Richard's wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of his family.
