He was born June 26, 1939 in Yadkin County to the late Theodore Nelson and Emma Spivey Hutchens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Avonell Key Hutchens; a son, Mickey Lane Hutchens; one great-grandson and one great great-granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife, Blanche Dobbins Hutchens; his children, Terry (Angie) Hutchens, Pennie Boles (Ronnie), Brenda Kimmer; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; step-children, Debbie Baity, Eddie (Liz) Baity, Robert (Janet) Baity, Kathy (Ronnie) Allen, nine step-grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren; two step great great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Jackie "Bunk" Wall; and a very special K9 companion, Snoop.
