Frances Joan (Beckley) Shepard, 89, of Westfield, Indiana died peacefully in the early morning hours of September 19, 2023. Born November 17, 1933, in Royal Center, Indiana, she was the daughter of Dwight E. Beckley and Hildreth N. Beckley.

Joanie, or Meme, as most knew her, eloped with Kenneth Faye Shepard on October 31, 1959. They were happily married for over thirty years. Her husband preceded her in death on September 20, 1993.

She graduated from Royal Center High School in 1951 and worked at the Logansport Pharos Tribune newspaper immediately following graduation.

While she was a proud mother and homemaker, she was also a secretary in a Chicago law firm
and had worked in other administrative roles at DPS in Indianapolis and eventually retired from the American Petroleum Institute (API). She was a member of the Dulcet Club of Indianapolis and spent most of her life in Indianapolis, near family and close friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Jones of Westfield, her son, John Shepard also of Westfield, as well as three grandchildren and her great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Anderson, of Orlando.

She was preceded in death by her sister Jean Todd, her brother Tom (Tommy) Beckley and two infant siblings.
