Miss Sarah Ann Buchanan was born in Wetzel county, West Virginia, on Nov. 22, 1835 and passed away at her home in Truro, Iowa, on Wednesday, June 6, 1917, aged 81 years, 6 months, 15 days. She was married to Jenkins Young, May 23, 1854. Rev. Monroe performed the ceremony. They came to Iowa by land, and arrived in St. Charles, Dec. 6, 1859, where they lived until spring, then they moved to the forty acre farm where the Young cemetery is located. In 1875 they moved to a farm about two and a half miles east of Truro, where they lived until the spring of 1909, when they moved to Truro.

Twelve children were given to this home, one daughter, Cora Josephine, dying in infancy. Eleven children, four sons and seven daughters, 38 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren survive her. The children are as follows: Thomas J., of St. Charles; Mrs. Frances Musselman, of Truro; Mrs. Elmyra Mann, DeWitt, Mo.; Mrs. Laura Habenicht, of Cedar Falls; Cassisu J., St. Charles; Mrs. Mary Wilson, Red Oak; Mrs. Leverna Fassauer, Camargo, Okla.; Mortimore R., Cestos, Okla; Mrs. Liva Foreman, Truro; Mrs. Violet Foreman, Red Rock, Okla., and Ellsworth of Truro. all of her children were with her during her last illness, except one daughter, Mrs. Mann, who was unable to come on account of sickness.
