Mary Johannes - aka Sister Regis was born March 10, 1892. She entered the Congregation of Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis on April 25, 1912, and pronounced her religious vows on November 5, 1914. She graduated from St John's School of Nursing in 1918. She served as sacristan for 31 years - first in Washington, MO and then in Springfield IL. In 1969, she suffered a slight stroke and was retired to the Mother House. She had diabetes and after amputation of one leg spent the rest of her days in a wheelchair. She celebrated her 70th Jubilee year. She died December 1, 1984 and is buried at the Mother House Cemetery - Crucifixion Hill, in Springfield.
