Genevieve 'Jenny' L. Belcher
May 11, 1933 - September 24, 2023

Genevieve Belcher, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on May 11, 1933, in Fredericksburg, Texas to her parents, Max and Mathilda Schmidtgensky Staudt.

She completed her education in Orange, Texas and worked in her parents' jewelry store. She met her one-and-only when friend, Bill, and his brother, Fred (newly returned from Korea) offered her a ride home. Fred became her husband of 59 years. They had 1 daughter and 4 sons and made 33 moves during Fred's military career.

After retirement, Fred made a timeline of all the moves/major events in their lives and one provides a glimpse of what Mom was made of: June 1962-Young Texas mother obtains passports for herself and 4 children under 6, selects items for overseas shipment, items for stateside storage, and disposition of automobile. Packs suitcases for herself and four children for 7-10 day ocean voyage to Germany. First time flight from Houston to New York for both mother and children...Military transport ship from New York to Bremerhaven. Fred meets ship and welcomes family to Germany. Children disappointed because they would not be getting a train ride from Bremerhaven to Nuremberg. Jenny relieved.

During their many adventures, she was devoted to her family and her faith. She was strong, independent, courageous, gregarious and diplomatic, generous, very creative, frugal, and sometimes formidable. She led by example and left a legacy of strength, integrity, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Col. L. Fred Belcher USA (Ret); son, Steve Belcher; grandson, Shawn Belcher; and brother Max Staudt. Jenny is survived by her children; her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; a brother; and sister-in- law.
