TRUCK CRASH FATAL FOR AREA MAN
REDSTONE -- A Glenwood Springs man was fatally injured in a truck crash on the MidContinent Coal Mine road early this morning.
Attendants at Valley View Hospital said the driver, james L. Ruden of Glenwood, was dead on arrival at the hospital. Ruden worked for Morrison-Knudsen Co., a contract coal hauler for the mining company.
Details of the crash were still sketchy at noon as Pitkin County sheriff's officers went to the scene to investigate. The call for the Glenwood ambulance came in at 8:45 a.m., and the ambulance returned at 10:15. It was believed that the truck Ruden was driving plunged over an embankment on the road.
His wife is among survivors. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Farnum Monturary.
