DENNIS P. BAILLARGEON February 20, 1941 – June 18, 2021
Dennis Paul Baillargeon, age 80, died peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Christian Community Home in Osceola.
Dennis was born February 20, 1941 in Osceola to Abraham and Danelda (Measner) Baillargeon. He was raised on the family farm and attended Osceola High School, graduating in the class of 1959. Dennis enlisted in the United States Army and spent time between Fort Riley, Kansas and USAG Heidelberg Army Base in Heidelberg, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1964. He married the love of his life, Gloria (Mickie) Germain on December 16, 1961.
Together, Dennis and Mickie took over the family farm and farmed the 440 acres. Dennis enjoyed tending to his fields, working on machinery, welding and participating in & attending tractor pulls. He was a man of faith, member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Polk County Special Education School Board.
Dennis was quite the story teller and had many stories to share. If you heard one, you probably heard it two or three times and in different versions, but all were interesting and worth listening to. Dennis had an intimidating presence, but underneath he had the softest heart and would be the first to cry at a wedding or while holding a new baby. His eyes would tear up talking about his children's accomplishments and if you needed anything, he was first to lend a hand for friends, family and neighbors.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mickie and children Lori Baillargeon, Terry (Jolene) Baillargeon, Kelly (John) Montpetit, Sherry (Mike) Campeau along with grandchildren, Bryce (Brooke) Montpetit, Allison McIntryre, Brock (Lizabeth) Montpetit, Mia Campeau, Caleb Campeau, Jack Baillargeon, Beau Baillargeon; Great-grandchildren Oliver, Brody, Breck, Amalie and Leo. He is also survived by sister Helen Engelhardt and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
