Jim grew up on a farm near Agenda, KS. He graduated from Agenda High School in 1958 and continued his education at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS with a degree in education. He married and later divorced and to this union four children were born. Jim coached sports programs and taught in several different school districts. The most notable was at Clyde, KS school district which became Clifton-Clyde when the two towns consolidated. He retired from Clifton-Clyde USD 224 in 1995. Jim farmed on the Anderson homestead and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Courtland, KS.
He married Doreen (Hughes) Junek on March 28, 1998, and gained a stepson, Adam Junek. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Dean and Edith Anderson; brother, John Anderson; sister-in-law Karen Anderson; father-in-law David Hughes; brother-in-law, Richard Hughes; and nephew Jared Hughes.
Jim is survived by his wife Doreen Anderson, Clyde, KS; stepson, Adam (Emily) Junek; step-grandsons Jensen and Hayes Junek, Cuba, KS; brother, Dale Anderson, Culpeper, VA; sister, Denise (Steve) L'Ecuyer, Manhattan KS; mother-in-law, Alice Hughes, Clyde, KS; sister-in-law, Debbie (Bill) Czapanskiy, Clyde, KS; brother-in-law, David (Patti) Hughes II, Lampe, MO; four children Michelle (Randy) Walling, Washington, KS; Amy (DJ) Blackwood, Westmoreland, KS; Angela (John) Girard, Osborne, KS; Jim Anderson, Jr, Topeka, KS; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jim has chosen cremation. Visitation will be at Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, KS. Funeral services will be held at The Branch, Clyde, KS. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Clyde, KS. The family suggests memorials be made to James D. Anderson memorial fund and will be designated by the family at a later date, in care of Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, KS
