Pearl graduated from Dover High School in 1942 and then attended East Carolina University, graduating in 1946. She started her teaching career in Goldsboro, NC, but spent the majority of her career teaching in the Nash County and Rocky Mount City Schools where she taught first grade at Coopers, Battle, and Braswell schools. She retired after teaching twenty-nine years.
Pearl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was active in the church's music and lay ministry programs until her health declined. She participated for many years in Rocky Mount's arts community, particularly with the Tar River Chorus and Rocky Mount's Community Theatre. She was a musician who continued to study and develop her skills throughout her lifetime.
Funeral arrangements will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nash Hospice and Palliative Care, Trinity Lutheran Church in Rocky Mount, or to the charity of one's choice.
