Lieutenant Richard Morton Wood, 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons. Commissioned into the 6th Dragoons as a 2nd Lieutenant on 3 Oct 1900. Promoted to Lieutenant on 15 Mar 1902. He took part in operations in South Africa in 1896 (served as a trooper - Medal). Served in the Second Anglo Boer War in South Africa 1899-1902, and was present at relief of Kimberley in Feb 1900 ; took part in operations in Orange Free State
Feb to May 1900, including operations at the battle of Paardeberg (18-27 Feb 1900), actions at Poplar Grove, Driefontein, Karree Siding, Vet River and Zand River ; in the Transvaal in May and Jun 1900, including actions near Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Diamond Hill; in th Orange River Colony May to Nov 1900, including actions at Wittebergen; and in the Transvaal and Orange River Colony 30 Nov 1900 to 31 May 1902 (Medal with six Clasps, King's Medal with two Clasps). He died in the Docklands, Ingatestone on 6 Jan 1908 aged 32 years.
