Wayne D. Ellis, 55, of Parsons died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008. at his home. He had been in failing health for several years. He was born Nov. 17, 1952, at Fort Worth, Texas, to Edward L. and Shirley (Parlett) Ellis. He grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1971. He served six years in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University at Tahlequah. He was employed as a water plant operator for the city of Parsons for several years and then did the same work at Denton, Texas, for four years. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and was a past member of the Parsons Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Marcia (Willis) Ellis of the home; a son, David N. Ellis of Parsons; two daughters, Stephanie Ellis of Parsons and Kristen E. Ellis of Great Bend; his parents, Edward and Shirley Ellis of Parsons; his grandmother, Rosalie Parlett of Parsons; his mother-in-law, Betty Willis of Parsons; three brothers, Kevin Ellis of Parsons, Bruce Ellis of Springfield, Mo., and Mark Ellis of Severna Park, Md.; and a sister, Peggy Ruble of Erie. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Peggy Hillmon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to a college fund for his children. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home, Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
