Birth date calculated from age at death. Son of James Connell (merchant) and Elizabeth Bryan. Graduate of University of Edinburgh (Scotland). Married (1) Mary Dickie on May 19, 1842 at Zion Congregational Church, St. Maurice Street, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. At that time he was a Congregational minister, residence Brome, Quebec. Founded the Congregational church at Brome in 1842 and Cowansville in 1845. Moved 1856 to Schroon Lake, New York where he also served as clergyman. Listed at Schroon, Essex County, New York on the 1860 census. Founded a Congregational church at West Newbury, Vermont in 1867. In 1869 he became minister at the Congregational church at North Troy, Vermont. Listed at Troy, Orleans County, Vermont on the 1870 census. Congregational minister at Westfield, Vermont from January 1872 to July 1874. Later moved to Plymouth, New Hampshire where he was a superintendent of the Congregational Sunday school. Married (2) Judith C. Ward on February 12, 1879 at Plymouth, New Hampshire by George Hale, clergyman. According to his death record he died at Portsmouth on November 11, 1895, age 80 years, eight months, and 26 days, and was buried at Holderness.
