Jim was a long-time Christian of 48 years. He announced his call to preach in 1979. The greatest message he ever preached was "A Cool Breeze Blowing" in 1999 at The Grace of God Holiness Church. He was a musician who enjoyed playing the electric guitar. He played lead guitar for the Gospel Lights and the Neal Family groups. He also played the banjo, bass guitar, and harmonica. He and his wife Polly enjoyed singing together in church. He loved going to church and worshiping God with his family and his church family.
Jim loved talking to people and joking around with them. He loved to make them laugh. His favorite holiday was Christmas. He decorated his home from top to bottom with lights, figurines, and musical Christmas decorations. Every year, he would show the family all of his newly purchased decorations and demonstrate how they worked. The grandkids loved turning on each of the decorations to see what they would do.
Jim was a member of Delivering Hope Tabernacle where his grandson, Timothy Neal is the pastor. He was ordained and licensed to preach at the Grace of God Holiness Church. His greatest enjoyment in life was to be with his son Mickey and the family in ministry. He was able to travel with them to Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Mississippi. He saw the ocean for the first time in Mississippi in 2013 on a mission trip.
In addition to his parents, Daniel James Neal was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Neal; twin daughters; a grandson, Jeffery Allen; granddaughter, Brittney Hankle; brother, Ricky Neal; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include sons, Jeff Neal of Johnson city, Mickey Neal (Christina) of Johnson City; daughter, Kim Foster of Jonesborough; granddaughters, Ashley Ervin, Cynthia Poore, Madison Neal, Angel White, and Heather Foster; grandson, Timothy (Samantha) Neal; and eight great grandchildren.
