CUBA CITY, Wis. -- Paul R. Andrews, 78, of Cuba City, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home, Cuba City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Cuba City United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Debbie Pimm officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cuba City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cuba City, and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.

He was born on July 2, 1929, in Hazel Green, son of Harry and Charlotte (Fox) Andrews. He married Ruth Marie Booth on Sept. 11, 1948, at Cuba City United Methodist Church. They farmed in the Hazel Green and Belmont area until his retirement.

He was a member of the Lafayette County Soil Conservation, and Farm Bureau. Paul received his insurance and real estate license in 1977 and worked with the Town and Country Insurance Company in Darlington. He also was a member of the United Methodist Church in Belmont, and later in Cuba City, and served on the Board of Trustees at both.

He enjoyed working with the Belmont Sportsman Club, Lions Club, the Belmont Fair Committee, Pleasant View 4-H Club, where he was 4-H Beef Leader, and coached the softball team for many years.

Paul's lifelong passion for sports was reflected in his participation through the years. He was captain of his high school football team, catcher for the city baseball team and fast pitch softball pitcher for the church league.

Additionally, Paul was a faithful fan of his grandchildren's sports events and regularly cheered the Packers to victory. He was a member of the Friday Night Classic Bowling League and his team was state champion in 1964. Paul always enjoyed a good game of cards with his friends.

Survivors are his wife, Ruth, of Cuba City; a daughter, Dr. Nancy Andrews, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; two sons, Gary (Sandy) Andrews, of Cuba City, and Roger (Sue) Andrews, of Belmont; three sisters, Martha Sauthoff, of Sebring, Fla., Mary (Albert) Jegerlehner, of Hazel Green, and Jane (Robert) Vanderheyden, of Stockton, Ill.; and nine grandchildren, Matthew (Molly), Wendy, Jennifer, Justin, Chelsea, Adam, Michael, Nicholas, and Alexander Andrews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Floyd Sauthoff, and a sister-in-law, Lila Booth.
