He was the son of François Xavier Roy and and his wife Anastasie Asselin of Saint-Anselme parish. Sponsors at Edgar's baptism were Joseph Elzéar Roy and Marie Morency, uncle and aunt of the infant; both signed the register. At age 25 Edgar married Emma Thibodeau on 14 Oct 1901 in Vermont. Edgar died at age 80 on 1 Mar 1956 in Saint Johnsbury, Caledonia, Vermont; he was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Saint Johnsbury.
