Mildred Frances Haley was the daughter of Joseph Allison and Carrie Spear Haley. She probably died of spinal meningitis when she was one-and-a-half years old. The home of her parents was quarrantined, so her grandparents, Frank Ezra and Anna Mary Buck Haley could only say their goodbyes from outside the front window where Mildred was held up in her tiny coffin for them to see. It was said by family that that was the only time in his life that Mildred's grandfather Frank Ezra Haley was known to cry as an adult.
