Funeral service for Doc Baker, 83, of Cushing will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing with Bro. Jack Orbison and Bro. Gene Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Baker died Monday in Cushing. He was born October 24, 1924, in the Nat Community near Cushing to Wesley and Gertrude Gladden Baker. He lived all his life in Cushing and was a member of the Cushing Church of Christ. He was retired as a fireman for the Texas Forest Service. Mr. Baker was a member of the VFW and Cushing Lions Club and on the board of directors for the Friendship Cemetery Association. Doc was preceded in death by his brother, Paul D. Baker. Survivor include his wife of 58 years, Betty Baker of Cushing, Texas; daughter, Sue Foltyn of Cushing, Texas; and grandchildren, Damon Down and wife, Nikki, of Cushing, Texas, and Casey Tubbe of Cushing, Texas. Pallbearers will be Steve Webb, Steve Wallace, Jason Gresham, Casey Tubbe, Damon Downs and Jerry Don Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Corley, Bo Lawson, Wayne Livesay, James Dawson, Herbert Casey, Robert Rawlinson and John Perkins.
