Anita S. Schaeffer, 65, Burlington, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 13, 2023, with her family and close friends by her side. She was born February 4, 1958, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Wayne and Wanda (York) Jackson. On November 6, 1982, she married Byron K. Schaeffer, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2021.

Anita was a 1976 Northwestern High School graduate. After graduating high school, she met and married her husband. Anita and Byron were lifelong residents of the small community of Burlington, where they raised both of their sons.

Anita loved all genres of music but preferred blues and rock. She loved attending live concerts. She was a giving lady and enjoyed sending cards to her family and friends. Her biggest love was her family, and she loved spending time with them. Her grandchildren gave her great joy. Anita had said in her last days that she was very happy with the circle of friends that surrounded her.

Anita was very much involved in the community. She was a member of the Crossroads Community Christian Church, volunteered for Booster Club Bingo for over twenty-five years, a member of the Good Ol' Boys M.C, a member of The Ladies of IBN Saud Grotto, and was vice president of the park board of Burlington. Anita retired from Carroll Jr./Sr. High School after working there for over twenty years.

She is survived by her son, Andrew (Amanda) Schaeffer; grandchildren, Crimson Knapp, Emilee Schaeffer, and Eliot Schaeffer; brothers, Chris Jackson and Steve Jackson; sister, Vivian Ramer; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Karen Howard.

In addition to her husband, Anita was preceded in death by her son, Shane Micheal Schaeffer; parents; paternal grandparents, Cecil and Sabra (Shelby) Jackson; maternal grandparents, Clifton and Lillie (Neal) York; and sister, Michelle Lee Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Crossroads Community Christian Church, 3570 E. 200 S., Bringhurst, with Dan Butcher officiating. Burial will follow at Ball Hill Cemetery where Anita will be laid to rest by her husband and son. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the church. Contributions may be made in Anita's memory to Crossroads Community Christian Church. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
