Smith, 93, federal soldier in the war between the states, who died Sunday at his home on Ninth avenue and K street northeast, will be conducted this afternoon ... burial in Rose Hill cemetery. A group of Spanish War Veterans will serve as pall bearers. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Victoria Jobe, and Mrs. Caledonia Abbott, both of Sardis, and Mrs. Josephine Powell, Ardmore, and three sons, William, Frank, and Melvin, who live at County line."
He was a member of the Chickasaw Post, G.A.R. of Ardmore Indian Territory (Oklahoma) according to a roster published in the Daily Ardmoreite, Mar. 8, 1921, p.7—Frederick Smith, Private, Co. L., U.S. Marshals force.
