On October 15, 2023 at 04:26 PM we lost a best friend, caring, loving, funny and above all the best little brother in the whole wide world Kurt Warren Hustis.
My brother Kurt was an amazingly talented finish carpenter and landscaper producing some of the most amazing creations you could ever imagine. We are very fortunate to have had Kurt's work throughout our home that we seriously brag about and will live on for many, many years. After all the main remodeling was done, Kurt just kept coming back to continue detailing and apply many of his other talents such as painting, plumbing and patch work.

Kurt's Favorite quote:
"If I am alive today, I did not die yesterday! Every day is a blessing."

All his life Kurt always put friends, family and even strangers first before himself. Sometimes working for just gas money just to help. There was no wasting time with this guy. When we found out a close friend was battling cancer up north the second I told him his first and only reaction was "Let's Go" and so we did. No matter what the problem was, he would always jump right in and help. That's the kind of person this guy was. Kurt considering himself "On Call" for anyone who needed his help 24/7 for life.

Kurt had a true love of riding motorcycles. Having owned more bikes then anyone we knew. One of his favorites was the 1967 Honda 305. He just loved the power and how he could maneuver around well while throwing newspapers for The Herald Examiner which by the way paid him handsomely for throwing over 700 papers a day. At one point our back yard looking like a motorcycle bone yard because of all the bikes he went through. Kurt would say "Why fix it when I can just buy another one". At one point our dad took the headlights off of 2 of them to use on my smashed up 1972 Ford Pinto.

Kurt loved College football as well as the NFL. I once asked him why college football and Kurt said because he liked to see who was coming up to the pros so he would already be familiar with them. Kurt was a diehard Raiders fan. He and I attended more Los Angeles Raider games then I can remember. Kurt was a true to Life College and pro football statistician. Another sport was his love of Nascar Racing. Kurt would travel to Arizona for many years to attend a race with his best friend William "Big Bill" Tucker whom passed away in 2019 from A.L.S. Also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Kurt's love of PlayStation lead him from the original console to his current PlayStation 4, he would play his favorite RPG's for hours and hours on end.

Growing up Kurt would tell you as a little kid he got bullied a lot. Like he got beat up bad. One day I came home and my dad's teaching what he called the art of "Fade Punching" with "No Words". Fading in a fashion to anticipate where an opponent's face would be and sending the punch in that direction without saying anything. No threats, no warning, no words, just fade and swing. I thought this whole thing was a really bad idea and our mom hated it but within just a few days Kurt got his first of many suspensions from the 4th grade and went on to get expelled from 3 different elementary schools, 2 junior/senior high schools which eventually led to being banned from the L.A. School district. Kurt was determined to graduate high school so he enrolled in Allan F. Daily High School (Continuation) in Glendale, CA where he successfully earned his high school diploma. Kurt later studied business management at Glendale Community College

On October 6, 2023 while in the hospital Kurt and myself had "The Tough Talk" in regards to what his afterlife wishes were. Having arraigned for my girlfriend Shelly's father and brothers funerals whom both passed away within 4 months of each other with full blown funeral services, Shelly wanted me to ask if he would rather be interred with his late wife who passed away in 1993 and Kurt was animate that this was the only way to go. Kurt said he didn't want any service and just simply wanted to join his wife. Kurt also told me not to post anything on social media and to only tell close family members of his illness and impending fate until he passed. I have fulfilled Kurt's wishes.

Next time any of you go to El Tepeyac Cafe, PLEASE hold a seat for my little brother.

Kurty Tiger, we all love you.....
