Mr. John H. Mays was the beloved son of the late Hobart and Pearl Jones Mays. Hint, as he was affectionately known by many, was born on June 24, 1938 in dolphin, Virginia. He departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on July 9, 2016. At an early age, john attended Olive Branch RZUA Church in Dolphin, Virginia. In his later years, he attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Virginia faithfully until his death. He received his education from the Brunswick County School System. John was a hardworking, kind, loving, dependable, and family oriented man. He loved working in his garden and was an avid sportsman in the areas of fishing and hunting. In his younger years, he played for the Dolphin Falcons Baseball team and was a force to be reckoned with. In 2001, John retired from TARMAC, Inc. after 35 years of exemplary service. On November 12, 1958, John married the love of his life, Agnes L. Bassett-Stith and together they raised six children whom he loved dearly. John was preceded in death by two sons, Willie H. Stith, Jr. and Hobert M. Mays, one daughter; Maggie L. Stith; four siblings; Hobart Mays, Joe Mays, James Mays, and Willie Mays.
