His widow, Nancy A. (Ensly) Sullivan, living in Russell County, Kentucky, applied for a Widow's pension and a Minor's pension for their son, John Crittenden Sullivan, born Feb 20, 1860, also referred to as William J.C. Sullivan, born Feb 20, 1861. Nancy died in 1916. Their son was referred to as W.J.C. Sullivan at the time of her death.

His parents were William Sullivan Sr. and Mary Ann McFall. I believe he was actually born around 1836 per information from the 1850 Kentucky Census.
