Mitchell Tilson Taylor, 82, of Asheville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

The oldest of seven children, Mitchell was born January 3, 1941 to the late Albert and Ruby Lamb Taylor.

He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War as an Air Policeman, and he retired from the US Postal Service. Mitchell enjoyed going to the flea market, and watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He coached baseball, softball and basketball for the Oakley Youth League. Mitchell will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, two sisters, and two grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 60 years, Donna Spears Taylor; children, Suzette Taylor Sharp, Misty Taylor Craig (Keith), Kevin Lee Taylor (Kathy Annette Taylor), and Keena Lea Taylor (Kent Ponder); siblings, Gene Albert Taylor, James "Fat" Taylor, and Rickey Taylor (Geri); grandchildren, Cody, Dakota and Jessica Craig, Dylan and C.J. Taylor, Kelsey Taylor Goldsmith; and eight great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 23, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
