Alvin J. Easley, age 71, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at a local hospital.

He was born May 2, 1931 in Baxter Springs, Kan., the son of Lester O. and Nora (Brown) Easley.

Mr. Easley was president and owner of Sound Control Systems, Inc. of Grandview, Mo. until his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of The Church of The Nazarene in Carthage, Mo.

Alvin J. and Florence Hessee were united in marriage on Aug. 25, 1949 in Bentonville, Ark. She survives.

Additional survivors include his son, Harold and wife, Elaine, of Ridgefield, Conn.; a sister, Jean Ransom of Riverton, Kan.; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His father, brother Clyde, and sister Margaret Gold, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003 at The Church of the Nazarene in Carthage, Mo. Rev. Joe Lee Tompkins, Dr. B.J. Garber and Rev. R. Wayne Stalling will officiate.

Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery in Baxter Springs, Kan. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

A memorial fund has been established for the Church of The Nazarene in Carthage, Mo.

Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs, Kan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs.
