Clifton G. Wright, 85, of Louisville, Tenn., passed away Monday, April 7, 2008.
He was born June 4, 1922 to the late Rush and Hassie Nichols Wright of Topton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Wright, Jack Wright; sisters, Bea Cornwell, Olive Reighard, Irene Laughter, Lorene Mason, and Betty Postell.
Clifton was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Air Force, and a veteran of World War II. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1954 with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired with 38 years of government service including TVA, AEC, and DOE; and was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church.
Cliff's quiet dignity, steadfast love for his family and country, and brilliant smile showed his enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed U.T. sports, western novels, bridge, bowling, and belonged to Elks Lodge #476 of Yuma, Ariz., his winter home for 18 years.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Anna Mae Hensley Wright; daughters and their husbands, Conda and Ron Mize, Tracy and Ray Morgan, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister, Stella Mason, of Topton; grandchildren and spouses, Kim and John Meade, Jeff and Cindy Mize, Lisa Mize, Dairek Morgan. Lt. Dane and Laura Morgan, Devon Morgan; great-grandchildren, Katie and Joe Meade, Justin and Julia Mize; and other friends and family including, Iris and Jim Lunsford, Keith and Orpha Wright, Gene and Evelyn Reighard, Alvin and Magdeline Wright; and a special thanks to caregiver, Robyn Cox.
Funeral services were held April 10 at Red Marble Baptist Church. The Revs. Donald Colvard and Mickey Stewart officiated. Burial was in Red Marble Cemetery with a flag presentation conducted by the Carringer Webster VFW Post 8635, and Eller Rogers Post 192.
