"SLATER - Bernard Barry "Bernie" suddenly on February 2, 2001 at James Bay Lodge. Born on March 11, 1936 at home in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Bernie moved his family to Victoria in 1972 so he wouldn't have to shovel snow. He leaves his wife, Dorothy; children, Ray (Jamie), Heather (Mike), Jim (Candace), Bev (John) and Dan; seven grandchildren, as well as various family scattered all over the country. Dad battled many demons in his life. May he finally rest in peace.
A visitation for family and friends will be offered at McCall Bros. Funeral Directors, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Thursday, February 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at The Salvation Army Victoria Citadel, 4030 Douglas St., on Friday, February 9, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Burial Park."
