Miss Browning came to the Indianapolis Public Library as a volunteer in the 1880's. She worked her way "up the ladder" and became Library Director. She was director when the Central Library was built in 1917. This Library designed by Paul Cret has been on the National Register of Historic Places since the 1970's.
