James Clinton Gilbert, Jr., 69, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jimmy was born in Maysville, Kentucky on August 22, 1954. He attended Maysville schools and he was a graduate of Mason County High School. After graduation, Jimmy worked for OPW for thirty-five years. After an early retirement, to occupy his time he began working at DP&L until their closing.

Jimmy's pride and joy were his children and his grandchildren. There wasn't a conversation where he didn't bring them up. When he wasn't talking about or to his children (he loved to talk on the phone), in his free time he caught up with neighbors, watched TV classics, tuned into local sports, and enjoyed the occasional midday nap.

He is survived by his children, Nick (Tara) Gilbert of California, KY, Derek (Amanda) Gilbert of Cincinnati, OH and Macenzie Gilbert of Maysville, KY; four grandchildren, Sophia, Aiden, Wyatt and Elliott Gilbert; three brothers, Mark (Angie) Applegate, Troy (Missy) Applegate and Kelly (Lisa) Applegate, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Clinton Gilbert, Sr. and Laura Applegate and Sonny Applegate.

Memorial services for James C. Gilbert, Jr. will be held at the Olivet United Methodist Church at noon on Monday, October 30, 2023 with Rev. Kent Moore officiating. Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
