Wood worked on farms in the Clyde, Wash., area, near Dayton, and also for the Columbia County road department for a time. He lived in the Dayton and Waitsburg, Wash., area until 1966, when he moved to his son's farm north of Pomeroy. He moved into town in 1971. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
Wood was born Jan. 29, 1905, at Dayton, to William H. and Maude Wood. He attended schools at Dayton and married Marie Darnold on Oct. 12, 1927. The marriage ended in divorce.
Survivors include his son, Norman of Pomeroy, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Wood.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dayton City Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Neal, pastor of the Pomeroy Christian Church, officiating. Richardson-Brown Funeral Home, Pomeroy, is in charge of arrangements.
