James C. Crane, aged 67, died Monday, September 25, 1922, at 3 p.m. on Liberty Ave., Terre Haute. The body was removed to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Adamson, 1635 South Fourth St., where private funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday, with public service at Clinton M.E. Church at 2:30 o'clock. This will be in charge of the Masonic order of Knights Templar escort. Surviving him are his wife, Lillie B. Crane; daughter, Mrs. Edna Adamson; and 4 grandchildren; James, Lloyd, Mary Elizabeth, and Robert Adamson, and one half brother, W.E. Truitt, of Indianapolis.

Mr. Crane had been seriously ill for several weeks and recently there had been little hope for his recovery.

Born and raised in around Newport, Mr. Crane was widely known in this county. He clerked in Nixon's drug store when a young man. He had long been in the drug business in Clinton before he sold out, where the Gillis store now is, and went about 7 years ago to Terre Haute. He had operated a drug store at 15th Street and Liberty Ave. until he recently became ill and was unable to return to the store.

In Clinton, Mr. Crane was for many years a partner with James A. Wilson, who later was president of the First National Bank. Roy Slater was a partner with Mr. Crane for several years, then he had the store alone. At one time, he was located on the east side of the Main Street, almost opposite where his later store was.
