Doris Nell(Martin) Shipp went home to be with the Lord on the morning of August 4, 2023 at the age of 88.
She was born on June 25, 1935 in Sterrertt, Ellis County, Texas. Sterrett was a small community outside of Red Oak, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father Birdie Brown Martin and mother Edna Mae(Jones) Martin. Also preceding her in death were her husband Kenneth Glenn Shipp, three siblings, one stepson and one granddaughter.
She is survived by one sister Wilma(Chuck) Allison of Duncanville, TX.
Children Judy(Billy)Dodd of Jacksonville, June(Guy) Alley of Recklaw, TX. Two grandsons Brent(Jennifer)Dodd of Bullard, TX, Jacob Lovelady of Tyler, Texas. Two great grandsons Cayden and Carson Dodd of Bullard, Texas.
Doris worked most of her adult life in the insurance industry. She went in to own two Insurance companies in East Texas until her retirement. She also mentored many that worked with her to achieve their dreams of owning their own agency or work in that field.
Doris was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Jacksonville, Texas.
Some of her best memories in life were growing up with her brothers & sisters along with always wanting to be outside with her Dad on the farm.
She also loved traveling with her friends and seeing many beauties of the United States.
In her last years of her life she enjoyed her time with her fur babies.
The family would like for everyone to know that Doris is being cremated and her ashes distributed per her wishes in a private family gathering.
