Los Gatos Star, May 12, 1927, p.2. "WM. C. McCAUGHEY.—Wm. C. McCaughey, 88, another of the County's Pioneer citizens, answered the final call at his Sunnyside home Tuesday evening after several days of gradually failing strength. Services were conducted Friday morning at the Melvin funeral chapel by Rev. Mr. Eckels, his erstwhile pastor, and the officers of the E.O.C. Ord Post No. 82, G.A.R. Comrade Gould acting as Commander and L. B. Dille as Chaplain. A quartet from the Congregational Church Choir sang two of his favorite hymns. Deceased came to California from Millersburg, Ohio, and has made his home here ever since. He is survived by his widow, Lucretia McCaughey, two sons, William G. and Ben L. McCaughey, and one daughter, Mrs. T. A. Robinson of Campbell. Taps were sounded for him as the flag draped casket was laid away in Los Gatos Cemetery."
