5 Apr 2008: Rufus M. Breon, 86, of Bellefonte passed away, April 3, 2008 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township. Born on December 16, 1921 in State College, Pa., he is the son of the late Roy O. and Mary Magdalene Sunday Breon. On June 9, 1942 he married Alice Jane Bradley Breon who survives at home. Rufus attended the State College School System. He worked as a painter for Cerro Metal and Brass of Bellefonte until his retirement in 1987 after 42 years of service. Rufus was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He was a Veteran who served in the United States Army during World War II. For his service he received the American Theater Service Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal. Rufus was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1600 of Bellefonte, a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Post #1094 of Bellefonte, and also a life member of the Logan Fire Company of Bellefonte. He enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family and special dog Maggie. Along with his wife Alice, Rufus is survived by 1 daughter; Patti Kane and her husband Jim of Hershey one son; Robert Breon and his wife Nancy of Bethlehem, 3 sisters; Ithael Woods, Elyria, Ohio, Aurelia Tachetti, of West Palm Beach FL and Thelma Walizer of Rebersburg, 2 brothers; Harold Breon of Newville and Chalmer Breon of Tyrone, 3 grandchildren; Bradley Kane of Harrisburg, Robert Kane of Hershey, and Stephanie Breon of Bethlehem, one great -granddaughter, Ashland Kane, and also by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rufus is preceded in death by 1 son; Lance Corporal, William Bradley Breon and 2 brothers; Ibra Breon, Mahlon Breon. A Memorial Service will be held Monday April 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte with the Pastor Sue Goetz officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte. [Centre Daily]
