Born Feb. 16, 1920 in Terre Haute, he was the son of William J. and Martha B. (Kitts) Myrtle.
On June 6, 1941, he married Kathryn E. Johns, and she survives.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was an instrument technician for Stewart-Warner Corp., Indianapolis.
He was a 55-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 132, F & AM, Cloverdale.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Willa Kay Anderson and husband James, Cloverdale; a son, William E. Myrtle and wife Tammy, Eminence; a sister, Clementine Newlin, Terre Haute; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Minger; four brothers, Oren, Kenneth, Ralph and Joseph Myrtle and two half-brothers, Glen and Harold Myrtle.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Wayne Newlin will officiate.
Visitation is set for 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where masonic memorial services are set for 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
