Leo Lafayette "Jack" Abbott, 95, of Plainfield, IN, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Traditions at Reagan Park in Avon, IN. He was born on February 27, 1928 in Martinsville, IN to the late Fred H. Abbott and Glendyn (Grounds) Abbott.

Leo attended Martinsville Schools and graduated from Mooresville High School. He met the love of his life during high school, Frances "Fran" Warriner. He was Junior Class President and played basketball, but he had a hard time focusing on the game at times because Fran was a cheerleader. Leo and his high school sweetheart were united in marriage on January 20, 1949.

Leo served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He served mostly at The Pentagon in Washington D.C.

He was the founding owner and operator of Tri-County Sports for over 20 years before selling the business. Leo was the former postmaster, worked as a bus driver for Mooresville Schools, worked for Perry Acoustics, and was a manager at Big M – Bowling. One of his greatest honors was being inducted into the Mooresville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He stayed active in the community serving in multiple organizations. Leo was chairman of the committee that was responsible for an education department being added to the First Christian Church in Mooresville. He helped organize and served as president of the Mooresville Jaycees, member of the Optimist Club, president of the Downtown Merchants, member of the Masonic Lodge 78, and was awarded the Splinter Wakeman Award in March 2000. When he moved to Plainfield, Leo and Fran became members of the Plainfield Christian Church.

Leo and Fran lived in Crystal Bay in Plainfield and greatly enjoyed going out on the boat together. They did not have children of their own but greatly enjoyed their nieces, nephews and the Perry family caring for them as if there own children.

He will be missed and fondly remembered by five nieces and three nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Dean Abbott; two nephews, Tom Warriner and Mike Warriner; and niece, Luann Pringa.
