Betty was born in Graceville, MN, the 2nd eldest of eight children of Lennard and Amelia Gustavson.
Upon graduation from Saint Mary's Academy in Graceville, she worked at a local bank before moving to the Twin Cities. She attended College of St. Catherine for a year before going to work in Minneapolis. She worked in the insurance industry and became a Licensed Insurance Agent and started her own business selling annuities in Twin Cities school districts.
She is preceded in death by parents, Lennard and Amelia (Marty) Gustavson; sisters, Lennice Linhart, Marcita Cook, Barbara DeVito; brothers, DeVern and Robert Gustavson; former husband, Ellert Ihlan.
She is survived by children, Amy Ihlan (Geoffrey Gorham), Jeffrey (Lynda) Ihlan; grandchildren, Jennifer and Emily Ihlan and Sophie Gorham; sister, Judy (Rollyn) Okerstrom; brother, James (Gloria) Gustavson and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Lyngblomsten Care Center for their friendship and care.
A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Visitation one hour prior to service from 10:00-11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Chapel, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd NE., Minneapolis, MN 55418.
