BRIDSON GAVIN D. R.

Died suddenly on Thursday, January 10, 2008. Beloved husband of Marlene Bridson. Father of Stella Alexander (Danny) of London, England. Grandfather of Louis Archibald Arthur Alexander also of London. Former husband of Diane Bridson of London. Preceded in death by his parents, D. G. Bridson and Vera Richardson Bridson and his twin sister, Hermione Bridson. Gavin served in the British Armed Forces in Malaysia. He was well known for his work in the study of the history of printmaking; most notably the publication of his work in 1986 Printmaking in the Service of Botany which he co-authored with Donald Wendel. Another published work, American Botanical Prints of Two Centuries, won the Newman Award from the American Historical Print Collectors Society. Gavin began his career in London at the Natural History Museum and continued at the Linnean Society before coming to the US to begin work for the Hunt Institute. He will be greatly missed by the many people who knew and loved him. There will be no visitation. A Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday 11 AM at ORION C. PINKERTON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1014 California Avenue, Avalon.
