Jackie David "JD" Berryhill
With his true love at his side, Jackie David Berryhill passed away at home on Aug. 26, 2019. JD lived a life of adventure guided strictly by his own rules. His love of life and ability to find the good in everyone brought him a large and eclectic group of friends. JD and Melinda loved hosting anything fun — parties, dinners, karaoke, over the top haunted houses, Dungeon and Dragons games and jam sessions.
JD worked in the veterinary field throughout his life and at Cameron Park Veterinary Hospital for the past 15 years. His love and care for animals made him well respected and resulted in a home filled with abandoned cats.
JD played guitar and sang in several local bands. He was a Special Olympics hockey coach for 15 years, leading his team to the world games in 2011. A master scuba diver, a moonshiner, hockey goalie, wedding officiant, chef, self-proclaimed mechanic, he took on all challenges headfirst. JD was equally happy assisting with complex surgeries as he was scraping mud off tires at the racetrack.
JD is survived by his wife Melinda, stepchildren Tabatha Ahmed (Omar) Tim McPherson (Tiffany), beloved Aunt Irene, brothers Bryan (Melissa) and Marc Berryhill; grandchildren Chase, Jada, AnaLee, Chloe and Claire; great-grandson Kenneth; nieces Katarina and Savannah and nephew Blayne.
A celebration of life will be held at the Placerville Shakespeare Club on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
