Douglas R. Emery, 75, of Jackson Avenue, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany following a long illness.

Born on August 27, 1948 in Corinth, he was the son of the late Clarence and Grace (Bowers) Emery.

Doug attended Corinth High School and received his GED in the Army.

He joined the United States Army on Jan. 3, 1966 serving three terms of duty during the Vietnam War as an E-6 Staff Sergeant, fighting in several battles and received many medals and awards for valor. He was honorably discharged in 1976.

Doug married Beverly King in Corinth and the couple resided on Hamilton Avenue for many years. Recently they have resided in South Glens Falls.

He was employed for many years in construction and then owned and operated Doug's Towing in Corinth for several years.

Doug enjoyed spending time with his brother-in-law, Wayne King, at his hunting camp. He loved going camping, hunting, family gatherings, making a nice fire (with his oxygen), but mostly spending time with his family.

Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by one stepson, Michael Milligan; and many siblings, Nanette Rose, Danny Emery, and Clarence Emery.

Survivors besides his loving wife, Beverly of South Glens Falls include his daughter, Lori Emery of South Glens Falls; six siblings, Christine Lescault of Corinth, Gary Emery (Kathy) of Corinth, Michael Emery of Saratoga Springs, Jeane Brennan (Thomas) of Corinth, David Emery (Kathy) of Corinth, and Jerry Emery (Carol Ann) of Corinth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Committal Service with full military honors will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
