Shirley Frances Montague, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed peacefully in her sleep on November 9, 2023 at the age of 88. Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife to her late husband, William "Bill" Montague.
Shirley and Bill were deeply in love and inseparable throughout their 65 years of marriage. Her vivacious personality and sense of humor made her the life of the party. Having never met a stranger, Shirley had many friends, and was deeply seated in the Lexington community. Throughout her life, Shirley worked as a medical secretary and enjoyed belly dancing, creating stained glass art, gardening, celebrating holidays, UK sports, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Montague; her mother, Angela Hendricks Chism; her father, Fred B. Haley; her sister, Johnitta Sirkle; and three brothers, Vernon Haley, James Haley, and John Haley.
