Brenda Lois Cox Coffey, 76, of Danville, passed away on March 31, 2022, at UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Boyle County on August 25, 1945, to the late Frebert Lee and Jackie (Eugenia) Gerlach Cox.

Brenda worked as a medical assistant in the Lake Cumberland District health department for 26 years and was an advocate for public health causes. She volunteered at the New Hope food pantry in Danville and was also a licensed cosmetologist. She loved to garden and never met a flower that she didn't like. Brenda loved all children and adored her sister's grandchildren Maelynn, Micah, Mila, and Noah. Brenda was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, David Coffey (Beth) of Hawaii, Susan Coffey (Stacey) of Danville, grandchildren, Jed Storey (Katie) and Hannah Storey, and sisters, Connie Cox Sparrow (Roger) and Freida Cox Carter, nephew Kenny Cox, and nieces Michelle Cox and Dede Carter McWhorter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Delma Cox.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen James officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Sparrow, Casey Sparrow, Jed Storey, Charlie Perry, Bob Miller, and Noah Sparrow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
