Obituary from The Wrangell Sentinel - Friday, November 14, 1941: Wrangell Man Dies of Heart Attack On Boat. George Weikko Arola, a resident of Wrangell since 1920, died of a heart attack aboard his boat, the Elna A. last Saturday. The attack came, evidently, just after Arola had built a fire in the stove and sat beside it to get warm. Bob Walberg, whose boat was tied alongside the Elna A. was attracted by smoke pouring out of the Arola boat. Going aboard, he found the dead man had fallen against the stove, one hand almost completely burned and his coat sleeve smoldering. He removed him to a bunk and called the doctor and fire department. George Arola was born in Astoria, Oregon, December 18, 1891. He came to Alaska in 1912, going to Chilkoot and was later in Sitka. He came to Wrangell in 1920 and was engaged in fishing here since. He was a World War veteran, serving during the time at Fort Lewis, Washington. The deceased had suffered heart attacks in the past, it was said. Last week he went hunting and carried a heavy deer out of the woods and complained of a pain in his chest. His death followed a day or two later. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from St. Philip's church, the Rev. Arnold Krone officiating. Pall bearers were old time friends, Andrew Prussi, Eino Jussila, Charles Williamson, Bob Walberg, Charles Roos and John V. Mattila, and interment took place at Red Men's cemetery.
