Darlene K. Berk, 84, of Mason City, IA, passed away November 13, 2023, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell, IA.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Rockford, IA.
Darlene was born February 17,1939, daughter of Henry Lowell and Josephine Evelyn (Calhoun) Arndt. She attended Mason City Schools. On Oct. 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to Cyrus Lloyd Berk in Mason City. She spent her life taking care of children and enjoyed it greatly.
Darlene enjoyed playing cards, any type of games and spending time with her dogs. Her home was never empty, always having a four-legged companion waiting for her. She loved her chihuahua the most. She loved being a grandma best of all and tried her best to share her love of horror films and creature features with them. People will remember her for her baking and will miss her bread and pies.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra (Ron) Goranson of Mason City, Susan (Bryan) Dalton of Wilmington, OH, and Michael Berk of Mason City; grandchildren, Kari (Jesse) James, Seth Goranson, Rory Tegtmeier, and Zack Tegtmeier; great-grandchildren, Parker, Jett, and Syrus; siblings, Carol, Dennis, and Gary; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Cyrus; daughters, Sherry Berk and Sheila Tegtmeier, brother, Vernon; and her parents.
