When Earl's mother died in 1888, his father George gave all his children to his mother Mary Tindall to raise.
At some time after 1903, Earl was sent to the Southern Indiana Hospital for the Insane and he lived there on and off for nearly 20 years. It is believed he was handicapped but left the institution for employment and to visit family.
Like his brother and his father, Earl was a painter and worked in surrounding towns.
Earl never married.

EARL TINDALL aged 31 years, son of George Tindall of Bedford and formerly an Orleans resident, died at Evansville Monday after a lingering illness. The remains were brought to Orleans yesterday and laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Earl was well known in Orleans and his death was unexpected. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved ones in their sad hour.
