Shirley Ann Breth, 89, of Tallmadge, passed away on November 17, 2023 at Tamarack Ridge.

She was born on September 26, 1934 to Earl and Gertrude (nee Knuff) Hawes in Akron, Ohio.

In 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, Jacob R. "Jay" Breth. During their marriage, they lived in Akron and nearly 30 years in Edinburg, Ohio before retiring to Tallmadge in 1992.

Shirley retired from retail and bookkeeping at Ames Department Store in Kent, Ohio where she made many lifelong friends. She also enjoyed her monthly lunches with her South High girlfriends. Shirley was an excellent seamstress and loved to garden.

Shirley is survived by children, Robert J. Breth (Karen Valenza), Karen S. Breth (Margaret Kennedy), Susan L. (Barry) Meister and Vicki A. Grelson; granddaughter, Jennifer G. Gotcher; and sister-in-law Barbara Hawes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Breth; and brother, Earl "Pete" Hawes.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 1pm-2:30pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Akron, Ohio. All are welcomed to stay for the funeral service at 2:30pm.

A private burial will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
