Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. There will be a Time of Sharing at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Clark, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Class of 1973 and PLHS Gift Shop Volunteers. Active pallbearers will be Derick Johnson, Matt Blackwelder, Gary Johnson, Rusty Block, Leo Tom, Terry Severson, David Luke, and Dustin Luke.
Sandy was born on November 24, 1954, in Lake Preston, SD, to Donald E and Barbara (Janssen) Aalbers. Sandy was a graduate of Clark High School's class of 1973. Her passion for beauty and fashion led her to further her education at Lake Area Technical College, where she studied cosmetology. With the knowledge and innate talent for making people look and feel their best, Sandy embarked on a fulfilling career in the beauty industry. She started her own establishment of Sandy's Cut & Curl in Clark, SD. For many years, Sandy ran this successful business.
On February 10, 1998, Sandy married Bill Luke in Las Vegas, NV. The couple lived in Clark, SD, where they stayed busy with Sandy owning the hair salon and Bill owning and operated Luke's Towing Service. When Bill passed away in 2017, Sandy moved to Watertown, SD, where she was most recently working at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System in the gift shop.
Sandy was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clark, SD. She was also a vibrant participant in the Watertown Senior Citizens Club. Her interest were varied and many. She was an avid card player and hosted card parties at her home. Sandy also had a knack for quilting, creating beautiful, intricate designs. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, and the love for the outdoors extended beyond her garden.
Sandy is survived by her loving child, Kimberly (Timothy) Alexandria Aalbers, of Brandon, SD; step-children, David (Brian) Luke, of Sioux Falls, SD, Shawn (Ryan) Hansen, of Watertown, SD, Sheryl (Rod) Dehne, of Watertown, SD, Sheila (Tony) Fisher, of Harrisburg, SD, Shannon (Lawrence) Moser, of Highmore, SD, Danelle (Heath) Hale, of Highmore, SD, and Dustin (Amber) Luke, of Platte, SD; one brother, Jim (Jennifer) Aalbers, of Hendricks, MN; one sister, Cindy (Steve) Smith, of Columbus, MT; twenty-one grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one sister, Marcia Johnson.
